There is no better time as now to reminisce on Jay Park's humble beginning as his 30th birthday approaches. The idol has surpassed many challenges to get to where he is now.

Jay Park is an American-born singer, songwriter, and rapper that debuted as a leader to the boy band 2PM almost 10 years ago in 2008, reports Koreaboo. Now that the multi-talented Korean artist is about to celebrate his 30th birthday, let us look back to his beginnings.

As he debuted with 2PM, Jay Park immediately hit a bump in the road just one year into his career. The K-pop idol had to leave his group and Korea unfortunately and get back to Seattle.

Jay Park then needed to make ends meet in Seattle so he started working at a used tire shop to raise money. At the same time, Jay Park also practiced singing and dancing.

The K-pop idol immediately got back into the music industry after covering B.O.B and Bruno Mars' "Nothing On You". In less than 24 hours, his video became viral and garnered more than 2 million views on YouTube.

Before he knew it, Jay Park was already writing his own songs and eventually worked with Cha Cha Malone, a close friend and co-member in his b-boy group "Art Of Movement" that started back in 2003. They both wrote Korean-American Brian Joo's "Can't Stop".

Jay Park then established "AOMG", his own recording label, in 2013. AOMG still proves to be a prominent record label up to now.

In other news, Jay Park will be performing with his AOMG crew at the Suntec Convention Hall in Suntec City, Singapore on May 1, reports Today. This will be Above Ordinary Music Group's (AOMG) first ever concert in the country.

Jay Park and his AOMG crew promised to give their fans explosive performances and the hippest beats in the concert. Tickets are now available in Asia Box Office ticket outlets with prices ranging from $158-$288.
