It took a while - 16 years to be exact -- but fans of Kwon Sang Woo and Choi Kang Hee will be happy to know that the two award winning actors will be reuniting in a drama. The duo will be appearing as the lead characters in the mystery crime drama "Mystery Queen" this year after they last starred together in "Shinhwa" in 2001.

According to a report by My Castco, the drama will revolve around two veteran detectives played by Kwon Sang Woo and Choi Kang Hee who will work as partners in solving mysteries and heal the hearts of the victims' families. Kwon Sang Woo will play the role of veteran detective Ha Wang Seung, whose expertise is solving cases involving illegal drugs. Despite an elite background,  he has a penchant for being violent, which often leads to more problems.

Choi Kang Hee on the other hand will play Seol Ok, a skilled detective  in her own right whose logical deduction of facts helps solve crimes. As partners, they will encounter many conflicts in their different approaches but they will eventually find their rhythm and become an excellent team.

A report by Soompi also sindicated that actor Lee Won Geun has also been confirmed to play the part of young police chief Inspector Hong. Because he was assigned an officer's post immediately after graduation, he will face many hardships in learning the ropes but eventually gain the respect of his peers because of his hard work. He will also play an important part in recognizing Seol Ok's abilities despite the opposition of other members of the squad.

Lee Won Geun has expressed excitement over being cast alongside acting veterans like Kwon Sang Woo and Choi Kang Hee. He said that working with his talented seniors gives him an opportunity to show different sides to his performance.

The actors recently gathered for the first script reading for the drama. The actors were in good spirits and even seemed to channel their upcoming characters with their choice of clothing. "Mystery Queen" is expected to take over the timeslot that will be vacated by the top rating "Chief Kim" and will start airing on April 5, 2017. For more Korean drama news, check out Kpopstarz
